Yoga and Dupuytren~sq~s for hands and feet

I've had Dupuytren's since I was a teenager. Now in middle age it has progressed, but I have much success with Hatha, Kundalini yoga. I do aerobics, hike, ski, and am a professional artist. I found your site looking for some holistic solutions as having moved to Germany my nodules have progressed. The yoga controls the pain and keeps the tendons stretched, but hope to find some other natural medicenes or practices.

Dupuytren and stress

Jo,

some time ago I consulted a "natural" doctor in Germany ("Naturheilpraktiker") and he gave creme (forgot the name) to massage into the palm. Unfortunately it had no effect at all, which is at least better than some other therapies, like taking clucosamine that actually seems to feed the nodules.

But this doctor also said that Dupuytren progression is promoted by stress. He suggested to work less and have more holidays, which I liked as a therapy. I did follow his advice but can't say whether it helped or not, at least it improved my life. A possible rational behind this might be that under stress conditions the body modifies its immune system and as Dupuytren can be viewed as an exaggerted healing process, stress might foster this exaggeration. I experienced Hatha yoga is an excellent means to minimze stress and that might be another reason why you experience a therapeutic benefit from it. It would also be interesting to explore the effect in the other direction: are computer games (to me the biggest adrenalin pusher) fostering Dupuytren growth??

I you are looking for another natural way to help your body to recover from Dupuytren you might also have a look at the thread "lycopene and dupuytrens". Though the evidence is still anecdotal it might point into a good direction.
