Treatment by Dr. Eaton

On December 11, I sent ten pictures of my hand to Dr. Eaton's office. I sent two followup e mails and called twice. I was told that someone would return my calls. As of today, I have received no communication from his office. Has anyone else had this problem?

Dr. Eaton

Libby - I had my NA done at Dr. Eatons on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004. I can tell you that they are very busy with people coming in from around the country. I'm told that they are booked solid until April 2004. I can't speak for Dr. Eaton, but he's going to be a very. very busy Dr. from now on.

They are very nice people so I don't knoe why they haven't returned you call.

NA

I’m a photojournalist and after having NA at Dr. Eaton’s office on Friday, Jan 16, 2004, I took photographs at a college basketball game the next day. NA is the way to go!

scheduling

When I called Dr Eaton's office last Monday, I was told that I could come any Monday or Friday in March that I wanted to. I have not had a reply back from emailing my pictures either, but I just send them a couple days ago.

I am a bit confused. I have to travel from the West Coast, and would like to finalize plans soon.

helpful

Perplexed, your post is helpful, because everything you listed is going through my head. I am finding that making arrangements is hard and confusing. I keep thinking that this should all be more simple! I have had two surgeries on my right hand and I don't know if more can be done for it. The hand surgeon said that I could go for another surgery which will include a skin graft or I could get the top of my pinkie amputated. I don't think so!!
My left hand is now contracting quite a bit and I think NA would work well on that hand.
Now this should be simple, I should just confirm with Dr Eaton and get it done. But I have realized that Florida would be cheaper to visit at the end of April or in May. Meanwhile I do have appts set for March, and I can't use either hand well anymore. So.......I am letting money be my big worry. And the fact that this is optional is getting in the way too. THis is silly. I don't even know if I am making sense. I should just book the flight and go in March.

Optional?

Maralyn,

What are you calling "optional" when you say you can't use even the non surgically treated hand very well. That sounds like a stage II or worse. Once you reach that point, delay only makes it harder to get good correction. Treatment, whether it be surgery or NA is only optional at this point of you don't mind loosing even more hand function. If you don't get on that plane you'll regret it. May not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But eventually, and for the rest of your life.

I~sq~ve lived with this for a long time.

Thank-you concerned for being concerned! My right hand has been constricted for so long, that I just live with it. Not being right handed, it really hasn't slowed me down much. My left hand is getting worse quickly, you are right I had better get on that plane. It is difficult not being able to lay either hand flat. I also have bad knees and a frozen shoulder. I've had diabetes for 45yrs. My young son has been very, very ill for the last few years, and I have just kind of let this go. Compared to the health of my son, this doesn't seem like that big of a deal in my life.
Of course I don't have an occupation or hobby that can't be done because of my hands. That would be much, much worse.
Also I have just been happy that my eyes and kidneys are working well.

Where is the problem?

Maralyn,
Perhaps you should get more than help for your hand. You don't have a problem with scheduling, you have a problem with you. If you want to go to Florida in April or May, get your appt. with Dr. Eaton for that time along with airline and hotel accomodations. Where is the problem?
