treatment by Dr. Eaton

Hi all,
I took pictures of my right hand on Sunday and e-mailed them to Dr. Eaton's office. On Tuesday, I heard from his office, discussed things and had the option of two appointments in Feb. After looking at the outrageous costs of air travel, I called them back and made an appointment for NA on Monday 8 March. My cost of travel from Michigan is HIGH as I am flying into Ft. Myers, spending the weekend and flying out of West Palm Beach airport after the procedure on the 8th, but by putting it out to March I saved about $140 on the airfare. I will keep you all posted with the results of the procedure. I can't believe I'm really going to get it done! I know of other DD sufferers in the town that I live in that are looking at this and will be monitoring my results very closely.

NA w/ Dr.Eaton

I had the NA procedure on 1-19-04. My right hand pinky finger was at 90 degrees and definitely in the growth stage. The procedure was a complete success and Dr. Eaton and his entire staff were exceptional. The entire waiting room was full of dupuytrens patients. It was the best decision I ever made concerning the dupuytrens. I had surgery on my left hand in Denver, and it was a complete failure. The most remarkable thing about NA is that I left the office with minimal pain--Dr, Eaton really had to work hard to release my finger. My procedure was at 11:00 a.m.,
after my husband and I went out to lunch, shopped and got back to our hotel room around 8:00 p.m. The recovery time from my surgery was incredibly long, and I went to physical therapy for about three months. When I walked out of his office, I felt like a new person. I have never met a doctor or staff quite like them. Thank you Dr. Eaton, Micky and Janice -- you are all wonderful.

Cheryl,

I am happy to hear that your NA went so well. Mine was great too. My pinky is straight as an arrow now. I loved chatting with the folks in the waiting room.

funny story

Well after 2 or 3 years of watching this forum and waiting for news of U.S. practitioner, guess where and from whom I learned about a doctor doing NA in FL....

Dr. Badois while on his table in Paris getting my hands treated.

I had quit watching the forum when I had made my appointments and booked my flights and rented an apartment for a week.

The good news is, I got to go to Paris.

Dr. Eaton

Steve:

At least you don't live in Orlando, FL.

Has Dr. Badois seen any drop off in booking by Americans as a result of Eaton? Did he indicate any opinion about the future of NA in the US?

So what can we do to get hand drs. to use NA in the USA? Do we need to organize and form a society? Do we need mass mailings? Do we need to submit information to newspapers so they will compose articles about NA. Can we convince TV stations to report on NA. What will it take to get more hand drs to accept and practice NA?

Cash Cow

Currently, Eaton's sight states that there is "a high volume of requests about NA". At this rate, unless Eaton is willing to devote a larger share of his practice specifically to NA, his waiting list will get quite long. It can't be too long before some other doc takes the plunge. The laws of Supply and Demand have a way of doing that. I think the critical thing is to make our local surgeons aware of Eaton and that they are going to loose our business. Plus, once Eaton is overwhelmed, I'm sure he'll beg his colleagues to get with the program. Economically it makes sense for them to do so. At $700 per procedure, If a doc did six procedures a day, five days a week, he'd gross over $1,000,000 per year. Additional overhead for doing NA is essentially nonexistent. It's not about the money. Not for the surgeons. They'll do just fine.

Procedures

Randy H,
Six procedures a day, 5 days a week for 200 days is 6 thousand procedures a year. If 50 surgeons did this it would be 300,000 dupuytren's procedures every year. That seems like quite a few.

Dr. Badois

In response to Randy's response to my earlier post:

We did not discuss any drop off in American bookings for Dr. Badois, but he did not seem concerned about it. His backlog is a few months, which is why I didn't see info about Dr. Eaton. I was convinced Europe only option and booked because mine was getting very aggresive.
