dupuytren's, ledderhose, knuckle pads, frozen shoulder, peyronie's

Hello. I am interested in the associated diseases in relation to dupuytren's. Soon after being diagnosed with this disease I was also diagnosed with ledderhose, pads on my knuckles and a frozen shoulder. Reading I have done indicates that these are all connected. At the same time my husband was diagnosed with peyronie's disease, which is rather odd. Makes me wonder if this disease group may have a viral basis to it?

Welcome to the forum whatso

It's not uncommon for a fibrotic disorder to show in different ways, and so it is with Dupuytren's, Garrods pad, Ledderhose, Frozen shoulder, etc. I am not sure why you would suspect a viral link, other than the coincidence of Peyronies diagnosis for your husband?

Have a read though some of the literature starting here http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytren_literature.html, and 'the book' http://www.springerlink.com/content/978-...6312&page=1has a chapter on pathogenesis which discusses some viral possibility.

But apart from a genetic link, no other clear cause is known afaik.

Re: dupuytren's, ledderhose, knuckle pads, frozen shoulder, peyronie's

This website has a whole section on related diseases

http://www.dupuytren-online.info/IPP_and_others.html (that's on Peronie's; from there it will be easy to find pages on the other related diseases).

It might be worth starting with the home page www.dupuytren-online.info and read more about the background of Dupuytren's and the pros an cons of available treatments.
