AARP letter

I don't know how many of you belong to AARP, or even if this will work. I have been trying to communicate with them about DD and the fact that medicare has changed it's payment policy. Even though I am not on medicare, I see this as a huge problem. Maybe if enough of us went online and told them our story, they would not only write about DD and LD but possibly communicate with Medicare to find out the reason for the reversal of their decisions. When you sign up for email notifications from AARP, there is a section at the bottom of the screen for imput, suggestions or to tell your story.
Maybe if enough of us told our story about how the disease changes our lives and how for those on medicare and on fixed incomes this decision is devestating, not only for our quality of life but also for our finances.

If we could get AARP to write an article, this might also work for letting people know that they do not have to wait for contraction to have options for treatment. Maybe the surgeons would pay attention.

I know there are a lot of maybe's about this suggestion, but hey.....it's like spaghetti maybe something will stick.

Any thoughts???

Re: AARP letter

Lori,
I think that you are absolutely right, we need to act on this now! I don't belong to AARP, but I could, and I will see what I can do to get them to send me an app. I think it is important that we try to document when they did cover RT and when they stopped. Have we been able to determine that and do we have written documentation from Mediacre as to why they will not cover RT for DD? That would be helpful. We all have a vested interest in seeing what we can do to get Medicare to cover RT. Even though I am younger and BCBS is paying for my RT it could come back after I am on Medicare and might need furhter RT treatment and 20% of people that have DD will develop Ledderhose that can also be treated successfully with RT. So now is the time to act! Let's all get on board and start this effort.
