amazing Dr.Denkler

I’ve recently had bilateral NA with Dr. Denkler and wanted to share my personal experience with other members of this Forum. I live in Canada and found out about him on the International Dupuytren Society Forum and then researched him through his website .The fact that he has a lots of experience in NA treatment and has fantastic results especially in difficult , stage IV cases like mine was assuring enough to contact him.
The first thing that really impressed me was the immediate, same day reply to several of my e-mails. When I was booking an appointment I’ve talked to one of his assistants and she was very kind and took extra time to answer my questions and I was able to booked my appointment within weeks.
We started exactly on time and I first had an exam during which Dr. Denkler checked my hands and told me about his experience in treating Dups. I must say that I was blown away just by listening to him. Among many other things I’ll just say that he’s on the cutting edge of treating Dupuytren with NA and Xiaflex, and has developed some techniques no other hand specialists are using. That was the best intro I could possibly get before the actual treatment.
The procedure was somewhat painful during injecting local anesthetic, which is normal, but after my hands went numb it was just fine. He spend at least 45 min treating each hand and the final result was phenomenal! Seeing my fingers completely straight was beyond my best hopes because of the severity of my case and Dr. Denkler was also very happy with the result.
And as if all of that wasn’t enough, he drove my wife and me back to the hotel where we were staying!!
The following morning I had a recheck, they changed the bandages and I was ready to go back home.
Today is exactly a week since then, and my hands and fingers are looking better every day. I have no pain or discomfort, there is some swelling still present, skin cracks are almost completely healed, and I’m just about to start wearing a night splint and doing physical therapy.
This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had regarding treating my Dups ( had 2 NAs before ) and I would like to strongly recommend Dr. Denkler to anyone who is seeking help from a highly professional expert .

My experience with Dr. Denkler was also fantastic. He also personally responded to my email with pictures of my hand.

I did not have severe contracture, so the procedure took 15-20 minutes. I know he successfully does NA on severe contracture. What degree of contracture did you have? Sounds like it was severe.

He is dedicated to helping Dupuytren's patients. Glad you found him. I have full confidence in him, too. I had NA first in 2009, then again a year ago. I got a night splint after my second NA and my hand is almost back to pre-Dupuytren's, but I still have cords. I have NA done at about 20 degrees contracture and it was no problem at all.

Thanks for describing your experience in such detail. It helps us all. Please keep us posted on your recovery.

Re: amazing Dr.Denkler

Hi Flojo,
I had 5 fingers affected by Dups, the worst one was L pinkie and R ring finger. The degree of contracture was

L MCP 70 degrees PIP 65 degrees
R MCP 50 degrees PIP 70 degrees

I' m already wearing night splint on both hands, doing lots of stretching during the day and starting physiotherapy today.
Need to keep the fingers straight and not let the cords reconnect again for as long as possible!!

I plan to wear my night splint probably forever. I had it adjusted twice at the beginning. After wearing it, I could tell that it needed to be adjusted to stretch my fingers the way were they were pre-DD. Don't hesitate to ask for that.

That's exactly what i'll do,wear it for as long as possible. My physio did a good job with night splint and told me if i have any issues with it to come back and have it adjusted. My fingers look almost 100% straight in the morning and it's usually one of them that goes a bit down by the end of the day but i'm stretching and applying good hand cream all the time.

Re: amazing Dr.Denkler

I HAVE COMMENTED ABOUT WEARING THE NIGHT SPLINT SEVERAL TIMES.....BEEN WEARING IT FOR YEARS...AS IMPORTANT TO ME AS BRUSHING MY TEETH BEFORE BEDTIME.

MAY NOT BE THE MAGIC PILL FOR EVERYONE.....BUT IT DOES THE JOB FOR ME...

Re: amazing Dr.Denkler

I can feel the difference in the morning. My hand is staying much straighter than after the first time I had NA when I did not have a splint.
