active or inactive?
I have a 4 mm nodule directly on the PIP joint of my index finger. It has not gotten any larger for the last 18 months. There is no cord and I don't have any contracture. On the surface of it, it would seem that the process is inactive for now. However, I've noticed in the last month or so that the joint is stiff with some sensation of discomfort when I awake in the morning. after a few "flexes" the stiffness and sensation generally goes and the finger flexes as much as the one on the other hand. I'm wondering if this is due to scarring and the general presence of the nodule--or if this means the disease is active and I should consider radiation. Do any of you who have experience with this kind of thing have a good idea?

Steve, you ask hard questions. Like the rest of us, it is hard to really know what is going on. I didn't have anything like yours as my nodules were all in the palm. It sounds to me like it may be Dupuytren's possibly becoming active, but maybe it's something else. Has is been diagnosed as Dupuytren's by a doctor?
Don't really know what to say, but it sounds like you have time to keep watching it. Maybe you could make notes and take pictures like Lori does to track it. It was hard at first for me to know if it was really changing or if it's just in my mind.
