Re: Anyone have DC in web between thumb and index finger?

Luba, RT works or maybe I should say helps.
I've been watching my hand and it is tightening up in the palm. Fingers all still straight except for where it is bending at the Meta joint. I can tell it is pulling my thumb and pinky from the tight palm.
Was RT the right thing to do? I think so in both cases. I just have aggressive Dupuys in my palm.
Would love to get comments from you and others about my situation.

Until the research about gene therapy or other things in the works (I don't really know what they are), I would still do what I did. There are just no other choices that I can see : (

Flora,
Its good to see you back here....

You are right about RT. It is not a cure but at least it helps stop the progression, for now... What other choices do we have? I watch my left hand where I had RT in Nov. 09, like a "hawk". Radiated nodules are softer and the new nodules that have developed are outside the radiated area. To me that is an indication that the first round of radiation helped.

I would not hesitate to go for another round of radiation, especially in new areas, or to have repeat RT if needed, providing Dr. T. assures me that it is safe because of the low dosage used the first time... I'll continue to watch my left hand...

My right hand pinkie is another story... Two NA's and its back to square one... but at least its not getting worst for now. Perhaps after Xiaflex proofs to have a longer recurrence rate, I might consider that too. My only hope is to continue to avoid surgery until new treatments are discovered...

Take care
Luba
