well belay that last message. with some vigorous manipulation of the largest most painful nodule, it broke. so, that would be a ganglion cyst. had one of those in my wrist 15 yrs ago. case solved.

Hi there,
I had Dupuytrons, doc told me I had to wait until finger bent (and I also I had it in my left hand) and then could do surgery. Meantime I was dealing with a bad back L4 L5 disc problem for two years having every known therapies chiropractic, oeastepathic, acapuncture, bowen tried everything as was having dreadful spasms, searched internet for something completley different and found MSM what have I got to lose have tried everything else. After 5 weeks of using and faithfully 1 teapoon twice a day noticed that I had no pain or spasm this has lasted for 7 yrs. As an added bonus I have no Dupuytrons in my hands, the nodules have gone and the cord tightening has gone. Over the years have recommended and still do to this day for many problems, just last week recommended my sister try it for her asthma shhe is having amazing results. Give it a go

Thank you dupfan, I will consider it. Bit scared of anything because I was taking cod liver oil with glucosamine and have now read the latter has been linked as a possible trigger of dupuytren's.

I went to see my GP today and showed him my hands, he wants to send me to an orthopaedic surgeon. I suppose I had best go and then decide what to do.

Glucosamine and Dupuytren's

Katherine, no need to be scared. Some patients reported that taking glucosamine/chondroitin made their Dupuytren's worse and stopping it improved it. While I would trust their reports nobody knows whether glucosamine generally forsters Dupuytren's disease. There are by far not enough statistical data for that. The warning on our web site is to alert people about a potential side effect and encourage them to watch it and, if they find that it does not do them good, they might consider to stop taking glucosamine. I wouldn't think that glucosamine could trigger the disease but for some people who already suffer from Dupuytren's it might make it worse.

Wolfgang, thanks.

There is no sign of dups disease in my family. They are all long living and no uncles aunts or grandparents have/had it. So either it is dormant unless triggered or, possibly my mother and father coming together mixed the relevant genes. My brother does not have it.

I am taking cod liver oil and I do eat pretty well. When I broke my arm and ankle I undoubtedly took paracetamol for too long, about 18 months, maybe effecting my liver.

Katherine, breaking your arm & ankle might have acted as trigger. Such cases unfortunately happen. If you are interested in that (though it is too late anyway) you might read http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...ure_trauma.html.

Wolfgang I really appreciate input.

What I think, is that I was in such pain for so long I overdid the painkillers and caused some liver damage. Normally I do not get headaches so never take paracetamol, but my arm in particular was so painful I would have taken anything and took painkillers for too long. A warning to us all.

Maybe that and the trauma too.

Dupfan,

I sent you an email. Perhaps you would kind enough to write on the forum how may milligrams of MSM was in each spoon of MSM -and where you purchased the product?

My Dupuytren's is just starting to effect my right hand. The ring finger is pulling in a about 1/8 to 1/4 inch and progressing.

Thanks!

Be careful with miracle cures

Notations, you ought to be suspicous about reports where a drug, cream, diet etc helped or even cured Dupuytren's. Most likely this is either a mere coincidence or a fake for whatever reason. Protect your e-mail address. The e-mail messaging of this forum allows exchanging mails without releasing your actual e-mail address.

Re: Appears I am developing Dupuytren's and would like to hear from others

Wolfgang,

I just want to thank you for your advice here. You seem to be really on top of all the information flowing around and I am very grateful to have your input.

It makes sense not to take anything unless there is a known benefit or, at least, as with cod liver oil we know it does no harm, so I have stopped taking anything that could be harmful including pain killers. I just take cod liver oil and evening primrose oil.

With thanks

Katherine
