Cost of RT
I would like to see everyone post on here what their RT treatments costs them. I think it would be worth the time for all of us to see what doctors are charging. Before ins. pays or after they pay. What ever you can find to put down. It just seems like i'm seeing a lot of high amounts for RT. Just a thought. If you don't want to thats fine. I will be putting mine on here later. If you think this is a waste of time just say so and i will be glad to delete this topic. Thanks

Re: Cost of RT
I went for 10 days and each treatment lasted about 5 minutes each at the most. And i had 2 GY each day per each hand or 20GY for both hands in 10 days. My insurance was a $2000 deductable that i paid and then they paid the rest. I do know my bill was alot less than some of the quotes people on the forum talked about. My bill in total with all the office visits and radiation was $4100 give or take. Which means my ins. paid $2,100. If you have no ins. the charge would be $6,100.

Re: Cost of RT
The only charges I am aware of are about $6700.00 back in 2009. That does not include an MRI which I paid for. That cost about $1200-$1500.00. If there were any other charges I was not sent a bill and insurance paid for them. I never received a statement for the 2nd round of RT. Going off of the statement for the 1st round of RT I believe the total charges were probably closer to $9000.00.

Re: Cost of RT
Betty,
I slowly saw changes in my hand after the second round of RT. At first the nodule began to soften. After a year it disappeared. My cord recessed into my palm, it is still slightly visable but it is not near as prominent as before. It also is not as tight.
I saw more changes after 6 months and they continued for almost the next year. While my hand did not change appearances after 1 year, I noticed it becoming stronger. I was able to grasp, tighten my grip, and pick up pails, etc..

Re: Cost of RT
In the US - 2 rounds or RT and doctor fees = $16,162 in claims submitted by the treatment facility to the insurance company for my treatment. The insurance company payed a lower negotiated rate.
To the individaul who sees nothing - that's great, no new growth! When I asked what I could expect the answer was nothing, I didn't realize at the time nothing is a positive.
Good luck to everyone!

Re: Cost of RT
I thought Medicare covered my RT at Scripps Hospital in LaJolla, Ca in November 2009. Anthem Blue Cross was suppose to pay the portion that Medicare didn't cover. Apparently, others have had problems with Medicare covering the cost of RT since then. And the secondary insurance (Anthem) only covers after Medicare pays.... I am really not sure if Medicare actually covered my bills in 2009. Scripps Hospital never billed me, so maybe they wrote it off???
I am not familiar with costs paid by Insurance companies outside of Medicare.
As far as seeing results after RT, mine improved for more than six months after the procedure. Existing nodules got much smaller and softer, a small (tiny) cord running from base of index finger to PIP joint of that finger, totally disappeared. I also had RT for my Ledderhose for two marble size hard nodules....they are 90 % gone.

Re: Cost of RT
In 2007 for the first round of treatments as a US citizen in Essen, Germany I paid 400 Euros. For the second set of treatments in California the bill for the XRT was over $8,000 plus another $1400 for a CAT scan. You can have one heck of a nice vacation in Germany with the cost savings if you do not have medical insurance or have the usual high deductible.

... and you get th best experienced doctors there with more than a decade of clinical experience of physical examination and appropriate selection of treatment for first situations, follow-up situations or even performance and interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging both for Dupuytren's and Ledderhose Disease!
I would call this approach "Medical Vacation" , Larry
