Does yours hurt?

Everything that I have read and heard first hand says that Dupuytren's doesn't hurt.....no one ever asked me......I have it really bad in my left hand and have already had one surgery because of pain, and now it's back and worse and YES.....mine hurts badly. I am just now starting to get cords, but my knots do hurt a great deal. Maybe that is because every job I have ever had I have to grab and pick stuff up ALL day with my hands. I also am luck enough to have it (cords too) in my thumb. I also have Ledderhose in my feet which I just had surgery on my left foot and will have it on my right foot as soon as the left is healed.

Also, I have read that a lot of people who have Dupuytren's also have trigger finger. I have it in both hands in my pinky. My left one doesn't bother me too bad, but my right drives me nuts. It has also developed a knot at the base of my finger. I am afraid that my finger will get stuck out of place. Does anyone else have all this along with just your Dupuytren's?

Re: Does yours hurt?

Welcome Lisa

If you search or browse back through our forum, you can find lots of people who say their Duouytren's has varying degrees of soreness, tenderness, and pain. However you do need to be careful not to confuse the pain with other causes. You have trigger finger, and that too has stories on here, along with carpal tunnel, tendinitis, various forms of arthritis and so on. The difficulty is separating them out and your physician should be able to help. But yes there can be pain with and caused by Dupuytren's.

Best wishes

Re: Does yours hurt?

Yes, Lisa, my DP has always hurt. My hand feels as if it was pounded with a rubber hose and is permanently bruised. I have a sharper, more acute pain in the morning when I first try to stretch it out, but that kind of pain goes away after 20 seconds or so.

Re: Does yours hurt?

I was fortunate -- never any pain (so far). Just felt like someone placed a big glob of glue in the middle of my hand.
