Dupuytren & Glucosamine Chondroiton

Hello

I was diagnosed with dupuytren contracture 3 years ago. My case would be somewhat mild, as I retained full use of the affected hand. In my case, it affected my right thumb. I had trouble placing my palm flat on a surface. At times it would hurt. My father had the same problem and told me to try tablets of readily available non prescription Glucosamine Chondroiton (1500mg, and 1200mg). Over a few weeks, of two or three tablets a week I noticed my hand could rest flat palm down. Now after a year or so, I forget to take the tables, as on my recent trip away from home for a week. Upon returning from the trip, I soon noticed my palm tightening. This has happened before, and I resume the tablets. Within days, the discomfort is gone. Hope others will try this, and see if you get any result.

Re: Dupuytren & Glucosamine Chondroiton

That's different from what other patient report (see bottom of http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr..._therapies.html). Glucosamine/Chondroitin are meant to foster growth of collagen. Dupuytren cords are built mostly of collagen so one might expect that enhanced collagen growth rather expedites Dupuytren's contracture. But everyone reacts differently, so if it does help you why not taking it. But I would hesitate to make it a general recommendation.
