Re: Has Verapamil helped your DD?

Thanks everyone for your responses. I may give the topical version a try. It sounds like there aren't too many down side and a possible benefit.

I just completed a third course of RT on my left hand, so I'm hoping the nodules on that hand will calm down and stop growing. But I already have developed tightness in all four fingers on that hand. It's not bad enough yet to need NA or Xiaflex (no real contracture, just a lot of tightness and pulling when I try to lay my hand flat), but I have heard that existing cords can continue to tighten even after RT successfully treats the nodules. If there is a conservative treatment that could keep that from happening, that would be fantastic. I'm looking into splinting as well.

I will keep you guys posted!

By the way, if anyone is looking for a research project, it would be very interesting to tabulate the various stories in this forum to track the symptoms, treatment(s) used, and results. There is a lot of data here if it were in a more accessible format.

Oh well.......here goes.....

I start with 120 mg taken orally......blood pressure tests in a week because there is a chance of it dropping.......it seems that 4 to 6 weeks before it takes affect with migraines......and a few side affects to look out for......some people report next pain, constipation......but nothing major......will report back with any news good or otherwise.....

My expectations are set at zero.......so a complete cure would be a nice surprise....

Maddie,
I encourage you to do the night splint. It is helping my hand.

Agree that this Forum has a wealth of information for research.

Can you tell me how you get a night splint? Do they need to be custom made? What type of practioner/vendor would you need to see to get one?

Thanks!

In the "search" box up above type in night splint. There are a few answers and I think someone has recommended a certain splint.

Re: Has Verapamil helped your DD?

The splint should accomodate your specific finger situation. That might be done through a custom splint but some standard splints can be adapted. I myself am using the one at the bottom of http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...techniques.html. The white metal inlay can be bent to match the current finger position and each finger can be adjusted individually. This can be done by the doctor (maybe the better way) or by yourself. It is not the best splint in the world (I don't like the fact that it splints 3 fingers though I have only 1 that I need to splint) but it has some advantages: it's very easy to put on and off (takes just a second), comfortable to wear and it can be washed (useful when you wear it for months),
