Re: idea
How are you going to fund this event? You'll need to think about venue hire (size dependent on number of attendees), refreshments, food and beverages (depending on duration), sound people (depending on numbers), conference organisers to handle the registration process, amongst other things. You could cover costs with registration fees, but this might be prohibitive for some health consumers, depending on the total cost of running the event.
No impossible if you can find sponsors, but much easier to piggy-back on another existing event. You could consider contacting cancer conferences as these conditions are effectively benign tumours and they might have an interest in supporting a consumer forum.
Just a few thoughts...

Re: idea
Good point! Our Miami conference had turned out fairly expensive.

Re: idea
[Location and price would make a big difference. I would also hope it was in laymen's terms. I am not crazy about medicalese and when it would take place.

Thanks much Dr. Eaton-- I was going to lobby you for this when I see in you two weeks. I'd be more than happy to work with you, Valerie or any forum members on organizing an event of this type. As patients I think we need to advocate more for research and a cure for this disease and I hope everyone on this forum who isn't already a contributor to the US Dupuytren's Foundation will consider joining.
