Is this Dupuytren's?

Hi,

I think I have DC but am not sure.

I have lumps above my knuckles (on top of my hand/finger) and also lumps below my knuckles (below the hand/finger) and I have a palpable cord in some of my fingers.

However, I can flatten my hand out but I cannot form a fist. If I try to curl my fingers in they will only bend so much before they lock up and won't bend any further. So instead of curling up, they are being prevented from curling up.

My mom had acute DC so I have a family history of it.

Thank you...

Re: Is this Dupuytren's?

Hi handal

We're not doctors, and so it's not really possible to say. A photo would help. You do need a physical examination from an experienced hand specialist. It does sound like maybe you have Garrods pads, a self diagnosed cord which could be something else, and the difficulty in making a fist which could be something else. See a doctor. If Dupuytren's is confirmed come back and let's discuss options.

Best wishes
SB
