Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
How long ago did you have the surgery? Looks good. Any pain? Are you doing therapy on your own? Are you keeping the wound moist 24/7?
Keep us informed about your progress, it is interesting. Great pictures.

Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
Last Thursday. :)
Doing fists and stuff. No, no scar therapy yet, waiting for stitches to be removed first. Don't want a moist wound at this point.

Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
No pain worth reporting. Twinge here and there, but not worth rating on the 1 - 10 scale

Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
Your surgery was a little different than mine. My incision was continuous from the DIP to the base of my palm in the textbook zig-zag line. My contracture was at 90 degrees.
Making the fist is a big deal. In my recovery the one most useful thing I did was using a 1 1/2" self adhesive flex bandage (like an Ace bandage) that I cut about 10" long and wrapped my fist like a rubber band. I would leave it on for about 10 minutes. It would hold my fist as tight as I could (without doing damage). Then I would take it off and flex my hand for a couple of minutes. I would do this three or four times a day.
I also used Aveeno lotion 24/7 to keep the wound moist. That was very important to never let the wound dry out.
I did my own therapy after the first two sessions of getting the splint and exercises. Surgeon thought that was fine as long as I did the exercises. Most of my exercising was just flexing the hand all during the day as much as possible. That was no problem. I had very little pain, also. Surgeon gave me a prescription for pain pills that I did not use. I did take three Tylenol every four hours for two days just to be sure.
10 years later my hand is as good as before Dupuytren's.

Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
Or sooner. I would be interested in a weekly report.

Re: My Dupuytren's Journey
Looks really great !! I am amazed at your recovery. Your hand flexibility is something. I was not that far long for probably a month, but my surgery zig-zagged all the way to the base of my palm. It doesn't look like you had much tissue removed in your palm.
It looks like you had a limited fasciectomy on your finger and a fasciotomy (cut the cord) on the cord in your palm. Was there any discussion why the surgeon did not open up your palm more and remove tissue?
