Re: New therapy - Dupuytren’s disease study-Sounds like Ziaflex/collagenase

Sounds like collagenase/Ziaflex to me.

This morning, I completed the survey done by Medspan Research for their unnamed client. What struck me most about the interview was that their description of the product, what it does and the protocol sounded exactly like the information I received when I went for a clinical trial for collagenase. I was not accepted for the clinical trial, but I did get an excellent description of the procedure.

Mary described the interview well. They wanted to know: What would be a reasonable cost for an injectable drug that would soften DD cords and then the cords could be broken? How much would I pay? How would I feel about having the injection and going back the next day to have the cord broken? How about if this procedure needed to be repeated in 30 days and maybe a third time another 30 days later? I thought the interview was very professionally done.

I told them it sounded like collagenase. They gave no hint as to what it is. I did ask when this product would be out on the market and I was told "In the near future." I said that sounds like it is on a fast track. He said, "That would fit with the near future." All of that fits collagenase, too, as Dr. Denkler and in other places say it is due out in 2010.

Maybe another treatment option is just around the corner. I'm not sure that it will do what I need since I have more nodules than contracture and cording. I'm still wondering if RT which slows or stops the progression of DD isn't what I need, but I don't like the permanent drying of the skin as a side effect of radiation.
