Re: Radiation Therapy advice needed
Jessie,
I too had RT (in Minnesota) and am glad I did. You've had plenty of good advice from others in this forum so I won't repeat that, but you should know that DD can progress very slowly. It took my DD, in the non-treated RT hand, twenty years to go from the stage you are at to a mild contraction and where I'm considering NA. You may find yours progresses slowly too and there may be a cure by time you get any serious contraction.

Re: Radiation Therapy advice needed
lori:
I am doing fine after my RT. It has been over 2 years now. No new DD. The RT stopped the growth in my right hand and I have gained back most of the use of that hand. I still have a little dry skin at the treated area but you can only see that in the winter.
Have to say that I agree with that. I'm 3 years after treatment and what seemed to be progressive disease at the time has stabilised and regressed (fingers crossed so to speak). I only have the good use of one hand so although I'd have preferred not to have had radiotherapy, the thought of my hand out of action by other options (probably numerous times) made my mind up for me. The specialists that I saw were happy to provide the treatment (it was on the NHS in the UK at no cost so no profit motive) and I felt confident that they wouldn't take unnecessary risks. I had dry skin on my right hand before the full palm treatment and although my skin is still dry I don't think that it's that much worse than it was before?
