Dr. Matthew A. Scott, Chicago Dupuytren's Center?

Hi,

In need of some NA here (had surgery about 6 years ago, later for that!). Any way, I live about equidistant from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN (Dr. M. Rizzo), & Chicago where
Dr. Matthew A. Scott practices at the Dupuytren's Center, & I am wondering if any one on this forum has had experience/s with this physician & his work?

Also, I must say, Medicare is an issue for me as well... (I can find out more about that from his offices, presumably).

Thanks in advance.

Henry

Henry,
Medicare paid for NA on my Dupuytren's and my supplemental insurance paid the rest.

Hi Henry,
Yes, Medicare covers it although at a very low rate that actually makes me feel sorry for the docs that accept it. If I were you, I'd make sure I got NA from a certified hand surgeon (which Dr. Scott is not-- I do note he was trained in Paris) AND someone who has had years of experience. You might want to inquire as to how many procedures each of these docs has done. I have a list of questions I've developed to ask prospective NA docs and will post it once I have the time just in case it will help someone.

Hi, Moondance -

I would be very interested in your list of questions. I am hoping to find someone who does NA in Colorado. I made the flight to Florida and Dr. Eaton fixed my hand, but that trip is too much for my 85 year old father.

I just completed my NA with Dr Scott. This was my 2nd NA (the first was 2 years ago) and Dr Scott does a thorough job and explains everything along the way. NA is the way to go for me and my experiences. The procedure is quite easy and the results are quick to see. I was eating dinner with my wife 45 minutes after the procedure and I am typing in this post about 12 hours later.

The office is temporary right now and is nothing great, but Dr Scott and his assistant were meticulous with their work and were friendly as well. To me, these are the 2 characteristics I care the most about.

I would recommend Dr Scott to any patient out there in the Chicago area.

I had an NA treatment by Dr. Rizzo. My thumb contracture was very problematic, and I only got a partial release. Probably any NA practitioner would have had about the same amount of success. Dr. Rizzo is knowledgeable and thorough - he used ultrasound to accurately locate the major nerves and blood vessels before going in. He's not timid, either, and made a strenous effort to get what release he could.

I agree w/everything you have said, as my wife also had NA 2/20/10 @ 11:00 AM with Dr Scott. Her contrature was bad, as she has had dupuytrens for about 2 years w/no treatment. Dr. scott was able to get a 90% to 95% release on one finger and 100% on the other finger.

Dr. Scott is much easier reached VIA E-Mail, as he works not only in Chicago but in Idaho as well. His E-mail address can be found on his web site
( dupuytrenscenterchicago.com )

Try Via E-Mail, as he works in Idaho as well as in Chicago. You will find the address in the blue highlighted area on his web page. It is alittle hard to read as the print is also in blue. He will answer your mail. It is also helpful to E-Mail pictures of your hand if possible.

Just came off Dr. Scotts web page.

1.) Click on ( Contact ) & the page will come up w/E-Mail Address. As I said it is hard to read.

2.) Just click on the E-Mail address and Mail box will come up.
