Hi Cherrise,

Thanks for your reply and for sharing your experiences. I had a steroid injection 3 weeks ago, which seemed to reduce the size of the nodules, or perhaps it reduced inflamation. It also reduced the pain. You are the first person I've read about who uses ultra sound massage to manage the nodes and cords. Do you do it yourself, or do you have it done by a physical therapist?

How long have you been dealing with DD?

Hi ,

I have mentioned message using ultra sound before. Message helps break up the tissue and open the blood/ oxygen supply as the body desolves it. It helps keep the nodes in check. Especially if using tools aggravated them. I asked my hand therapist about it when he had used it to reduce the swelling from the nodes due to Xiaflex injections. Steroid injections can only be done a few times a year according to the dr it can cause serious reactions in other areas. I have steroid injections in my joints occasionally so in my case must use restraint. They did help the pain & shrink the nodes in my palms.

I purchased a hand held home designed ultra sound online at a very reasonable price. It comes with gel and directions for various applications. It has been a good way for me to stay active, manage the DD, LH & do the every day things that we take for granted.

Of course I never complain when the iRobot Roomba starts up,cleans the floors in no time. So many household things are designed for disabilities and for easier use . Makes great gifts too!

Take care, hope ur doing well. U have been very reactive to the many posts available learning as much as you can. It's a good thing! Great forum for every one to share.

Peace & Heeling

Hello peaceful.
Have had the nodes in my hands for well over 20 years has been inactive and runs in the family.Until a hand surgeon who specialized in DD wanted to do surgery since the pinky was slightly contracting with no swollen nodes.
Hand surgery...caused a whole chain reaction. Then did Xiaplex injection I found thru the Internet, and another DD specialist for the injection...to make a long story short. Surgery should be the last resort. I now know since joining this forum. I could have just worn a splint from the very beginning and avoided a great deal of pain, aggregation, surgery & the injection of Xiaplex.

After seeing many docs as each have different opinions on DD. All the info can be a lot to sort thru. GOOD LUCK.
