dupytrens and cocoa

I tired some unsweetened cocoa today and it was great for my energy level. Later this evening, I noticed an increase in the fibrous tissue in the palm of my hand. I already had a latent case in both hands and feet. This sudden increase, after no increase in years, really took me back. Theobromine is the main factor to consider in cocoa and chocolate and at a website entitled Zhion under side effects of theobromine I saw some disturbing information. There was no specific mention of dupytrens but some of the scientific terminology made me think it had ability to change cell formation. I am a little out of my league in terms of scientific accuracy but the change in my hand is definite and disturbing.

Re: dupytrens and cocoa

Dang! Now that REALLY is disturbing news. You know that chocolate is the 5th food group!

In the past 2-3 years, I have starting eating the most potent dark chocolate that I can find - 90% cacao. Wonder if there is a correlation. Hope someone can counter this with scientific info so I can still eat my chocolate.

Re: dupytrens and cocoa

Not only do I have this recent correlation between chocolate and dupytrens, about 8 years ago when I first developed dupytrens in my hands and feet I was eating chocolate for health. For some reason I stopped eating the chocolate and the dupytrens never progressed until now. I had been extremely afraid of it and went to a specialized surgeon in Cinncinati Ohio. I thought mine would progress but it never did. I am sure it came on with the chocolate and disappeared with the stopping of the chocolate. At the same time I developed prostate cancer which the same study site cites the correlation. I had my prostate removed so that was the end of that but I think it was the chocolate that brought that on too. Cobweb
