FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

I just read a thread that mentions a link between the 2. I have have frozen soulder in both shoulders but that was years ago and my DD has just popped up in April. Is there a connection, has this been proven? I managed the shoulder issue w/ physical theraphy and Osteo Bionomy, one is 100% the other is 90-95%.

But I have much trouble with shoulder and biceps going into spasm and tendonitis, is this all realated to the DD? I can hardly do anything without them flaring up especially the arm that I have the worse case of DD in. It also goes into my neck where I have 2 oseophytes. I do also have fibromyalgian and I am a 64 year old woman. I would like to strengthem my muscles but just about everything I do sets them into crisis like driving (no more than 30 mins one way and carrying lightweight groceries to my car and 3 bottles of 1/2 liter water to my car often.

Any help would be appreciated. And any postings to my questions would be welcomed.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

58 year old male. First noticed a pinkie contracture around '97. Not noticeable chords or nodules. Had a successful Had successful NA in '06. Now have nodules and possible chords. Aldo developed frozen shoulder last January. Treated it with as much PT as insurance would allow, followed by (continuing) home exercises. Much better but far from 100%. But still getting better - slowly.

Have similar problem ^with both shoulders but not fibromyralgia as well-I'm sorry that you do. But I have shaky fingers in the hand I do not write with. Am not sure if it is because of nodule in the hand but also have some jerky movements when moving that arm. have had physio/osteopathy but now they say it might be parkinsons or something from the brain! No problem elsewhere but it has frightened me so much I get shaky when I go to the dr. I went to a neurologist over a year ago who said it wasnt. have got very lazy with using that hand as shoulder was frozen for ayear. Have got s tronger muscles with exercise classes but still as if something has snapped for finer movements. Has not got worse but notany better. I just want my hand back!! turning a small object in it is hard. Do you have that problem too?

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

Hilary,

Turning things over in my hand has always been a problem because my fingers do not bend and touch my palm, no reason given. My 3 fingers have not contracted hope they don't ever.

Sorry about your shakyiness hope not Parkinson.

I just developed a bump on the side of one of the thumbs with DD it is swollen and red in the joint and really hurt the other day I put on a splint special for arthritic thumbs for a day and it helped. Might be OA or RA or is it DD related? Anybody know.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

There may be a "cascade" effect because of the way the muscles in the arm and shoulder change their normal function (as a result of cupping or change needed to adapt due to the contraction?). My shoulder weakened considerably as a result of my contraction but specific therapy (BodyBlade, taping and resist bands) have taken care of weakness and pain to my shoulder and rotator cuff. Only a qualified physical therapist can walk one through what should be done. None of the exercises I found on the web helped.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

I have had successful treatment by an osteopath for frozen shoulder in my case the right side-and no recurrence after 2 and 1/2 years.Unfortunately, I now have symptoms in my left shoulder and am going for treatment this friday. My Osteopath uses the Niel Asher technique-it is painful.but I anticipate a good result quickly.A shame the acupunture I tried for my Dups was unsuccessful-Radiotherapy by Prof Seegenscmiedt did the job for me instead.50 plus acupuncture treatments and no result. Therapies-conventional or alternative, should be evidence based-the Niel Asher technique has been subject to clinical trials in the UK which backs up my personal experience.Nice to know that at least one complimentary therapy can get a result!!

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER related to DD?

Phil,

Yes after having gotten over two frozen shoulders through very painful therapy I will agree about the pain, but it is worth it to avoid surgery. I few have responded so there may be a connection to DD not sure at this time.

My acupunturist told me up front there was nothing she could do for DD, I didn't think there was since it is not a nerve condition nor does it run along the nerves. It is a shame your acupunturist wasn't better informed I hate to think they were just taking your money. There is plenty more for her to work on though.
