hands tight after rt
Its been 2 weeks since i finished my RT treatments. And i don't go back to doctors for another 3 weeks. Even though my hands are better and i can use them a lot more for things i have lots of tightness and dryness. Is this normal or am i being impatience?

Re: hands tight after rt
Dryness is normal, you might use a hand creme to for feeding moisture and fat to your skin. Tightness I have never heard of but maybe you should wait a few more weeks.

Re: hands tight after rt
My hand felt tight, but it got better and better for 4-6 weeks after RT. Mine is still somewhat tight. I attribute that to the fact that RT doesn't reverse DD, only stops the progression if successful. Even so, mine is not as tight as it was before RT, and after several weeks, it was less tight. I also think it helped the tightness as the nodules reduced in size and became softer.

Re: hands tight after rt
I have dry skin in the exact place I had RT. My hands gradually became less tight as time went on. 6 months later I can still have a little tightness if I use my hand excessively. Example, I was using a caulk gun and the gripping and squeezing made it ache for about 3 days. I only used the caulk gun for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, but it was enough to hurt it.

Re: hands tight after rt
I don't have any dryness related to RT. My hands very dry anyway and I can't tell any difference between the radiated hand and the non-radiated hand.

Re: hands tight after rt
With everything posted about dryness I was expecting problems...I was lucky and didn't get any dryness at all after RT....could it be because my skin is always moist anyway? While I was undergoing treatment I used a cream with 20% urea in it (someone had suggested it on this forum)...just in case...perhaps that helped...I only used it for two weeks.
Luckily...no problem with tightness either...

Re: hands tight after rt
Luba,
Since we both had ours at Scripps with Dr. T, maybe the protocol they use makes a difference. Your hands were always moist and mine were ALWAYS dry, so those would be opposites and still neither experienced dryness. Just wondering.
