Janetta:

When I had NA with Dr. Grabow he used neither locals or sedatives. He wanted me awake so I could tell him if he hit a nerve. The pain and discomfort were much less than dental work with anesthesia.

Talk with Dr. Kiefhaber about your concerns.

Re: Needle aponeurotomy in cincinnati

With Dr. Denkler, I had a local but no sedation. The local must not have been extremely strong, because I could feel something going on. Once I felt a slight pain, told Dr. Denkler and he said it was probably close to a nerve. He made an adjustment.

I was nervous about the whole thing because I'm a wimp when it comes to seeing and hearing medical procedures going on and on and on. I heard the cords snap when he had weakened them with the needle. I heard it about 3 times and then I asked, is that the cord I'm hearing snapping? He said, "Yes." I was surprised about it at the time, but it makes sense. I thought it was pretty loud, too.

I agree, talk with your doctor. All of these docs who do NA seem to be good with patient relationships and communication.

I don't regret getting NA to release my cords. I heard 4 or 5 cords snap.

Good luck,

Flora

Re: Needle aponeurotomy in cincinnati

Sedation actually sounds conuter productive to me and adds an additional, unnecessary risk to the procedure. I would refuse it or go elsewhere.
