moondanc: This generally happens after I've held a book with my thumb and index finger but has also happened spontaeously. A man walks into his doctor's office, and says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this (makes motion)." The doctor says, "Don't do that."
Yeah, well, sometimes I have a sense of humor about this disease and sometimes I don't but "don't do anything spontaneously" doesn't quite work for me. I'll give you points for trying. My NA surgeon says this has nothing to do with DD, it's my cervical spine. He also says there's no benefit to RT and didn't want to look at my feet to see if I had LD because "there's no treatment." Maybe he should walk a mile in our shoes...and then see what he thinks about symptoms.

Re: Nodules and cords at base of thumb
Just about says it all Diane... I'll upload a pic of my left hand for comparison once I've worked out how to hold the camera and take a picture with my right! Discovered today that it's now too painful to even hold a pen and write....

I urge you to consult with another physician about RT for LD. I had RT after a painful nodule appeared in the arch of my foot. It felt about the size of an olive. Now, after almost two years, it's totally gone.

My LD, if any, is not obvious to me but since I was there for my hands I wanted to get my feet checked also. I do believe in RT for LD (and DD) and would look into it further if I had nodules. Thanks for your concern.
One more time--sure would be nice if top hand surgeons agreed on RT or hand some scientific evidence to offer.
