Sorry to hear this news, RSD or CRPS is one of the potential side effects of surgery for DD. The diagnosis is usually done via the Budapest score, so perhaps the bone scan is to help look for physical causes? It can be difficult to treat, a combination of physical therapy, distraction, pain killers, NSAIDS, nerve blocks etc, and if the diagnosis is confirmed your husband should seek specialist help. I would still take your surgeons on advice on physical therapy and splinting as post op recovery for the DD though.

Re: Possible RSD after surgery
After my surgery my hand was swollen for 5-6 months. I couldn't make a fist anymore and thought my condition was worse than before the surgery. But after a couple of months the swelling gradually reduced and eventually went away completely. This is not typical but it happen occasionally. After 5 months my hand was fully functional again. For your husband there is no need to be scared but, of course, he should present his swollen hand to a doctor, maybe the surgeon, just to make sure. His surgeon should have warned hom prior to surgery about the possible side effects of this surgery https://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuyt...ideeffects.html .
Wishing your husband quick recovery
Wolfgang

Re: Possible RSD after surgery
Thanks guys, the surgeon told us the possibility of RSD but not how bad it could be, they should tell you everything and then let you decide if it is really worth it, she told us if it is RSD it looks to be a mild case, whatever that might mean, so far it is just swollen fingers and hand and the hand seems hot, how long does it take to get worse?
