Post surgery report!
Good news! All of my many stitches are out. It was pretty painless. The surgeon was pleased with how my hand looks. He was telling me how he really doesn't like to do this particular surgery. There is so many things that can go wrong that it makes it a tedious surgery. So far mine appears to have gone smoothly. My middle finger has no feeling from the first joint down. He said it's possible the nerve bundle was damaged and the feeling won't return. Only time will tell. I need to continue with OT for 3-4 months. My fingers are still hugely swollen. He's not sure what is up with the nonworking ringer finger. The tendon is intact and that was his fear. He will check it when I go back. We are both worried about keloid scarring. So he ordered the Otoform that Diane was talking about! He gave me a paper that instructs the OT to add it to my splint. That was great news after hearing about the Otoform on the forum here.
I'm still unable to do much with my hand. No holding anything other than paper. No gripping items, carrying items or putting weight on my palm. Otherwise, keep stretching and bending and working on it.
The surgeon would like to fix my left hand soon. He feels sure that it can be done with NA. But he won't do it until the right hand is completely and totally well and functional. He is also closely watching my thumb and index finger on the right hand. There are nodules and three cords developing in the webbing between the fingers. Chances are that right hand is going to need more work at some point to correct those two fingers. But I'm not thinking about that right now. lol
When I saw the OT on Tuesday, she measured the pinky and it had a 25 degree contracture. Of course that will improve as I continue OT. But originally, that pinky was at 68 degrees prior to surgery. So yay!

Re: Post surgery report!
Has anyone mentioned to keep the wound moist with lotion?

The surgeon told me to buy a bottle of vitamin E oil, which I did, and to apply that all over my hand and fingers three times a day.
