Well i'm done with my 10 days of RT. After my second treatment i could tell that my hands felt different. And after my first 5 treatments it was like night and day. I was able to open bottled water, hold my hair dryer and hold my coffee cup without clamping the handle with my hand. By the time i finished my last 5 treatments, my hands was not tight and the nodules had gotten smaller and softer and the cords were no longer visible except for one that is about quarter of an inch long. My side effects - i didn't have any, no sunburn effect, no dry skin but i did get tired from the radiation. I'm very pleased with what it has done for me. With any luck it will get better as time goes by. This is a wonderful treatment for such a horrible disease. I would like to thank everyone on here for the support you gave me while i was trying to decide what to do. Everyone should do this if they can because you won't regret it. My doctor and everyone that works with him are very nice and i would never go anywhere else. If anyone lives near Missouri or in Missouri that is looking for a good doctor his name is Scott C. Cozad and here is his website www.tridocs.com I've added this picture for people that have a fear of radiation. Take care
Dr. Cozad used electron and my dosage was 2.0 Gys for 10 days and he hoped that would take care of it and left door open in case i needed more somewhere on my hands. But he covered my hands because i had DD everywhere. My tattoos were on the palms. I hope this helped. Take care
Thank you, Cindy. That protocol is similar to the RT done on my hand. I, too, had RT on my whole palm including the metatarsal joints on all digits. There appears to be "something happening" along the inside of my pinky finger just above the metatarsal joint which would have been just outside the RT area. I guess there's a tendon there. It appears to be thickening. I'm watching it.
Thats to bad it didn't get caught in the RT area. I hope your not having more problems. I am also watching my hands like a hawk. I've put a pic of my hands with the doctors markings on it to show you how far up the fingers he went as well as doing the palms. I can never remember the name of the joints so its easier to show you. Take care.
Cindy, for some reason I cant access pictures anymore on this site even tho I am logged in, it just keeps taking me back to the login. Would you mind sending me the pics of your hands through an individual email so I can see how they marked yours? thanks a lot Paula
They have now fixed the problem and you can view the pictures. If you notice on my hands with drawings there are tiny little blacks dots here and there and they are a little red because of tattooing. I have a lot more pics if you need to see them.
