Reocuring Dupuytrens

I am a 42 year old female, I started with lumps on both palms at the age of 40, I had surgery at 40 to remove the lumps, then futher surgery with a skin graft at 41, now at 42 I am waiting to see my consultant in July (09), I wonder what state my hands will like in a few years time if I continue to have surgery every year, does anyone else or has anyone had multi surgery?

Re: Reocuring Dupuytrens

Gwen, we all react differently and individually to surgery and other therapies. For some of us surgery seems to trigger more aggressive growth of Dupuytren's elsewhere. that being the case one surgery might actually lead into a sequence of surgeries. To escape that you might try one of the other, less surgical therapies described on this site. Depending on your situation NA, Kenalog injection or radiotherapy might help. You might have a look at the menu on the left, read about these options, and then review them with your doctor.
