WOOHOO - BCBSNJ covering Xiaflex
I just heard from Acredo Specialty Pharmacy that they are shipping my vial of Xiaflex to my doctor - and that 100% of the cost will be paid by Horizon BCBSNJ. I'm thrilled! Hopefully, there won't be any hidden costs, but right now, I'm pretty happy that I didn't have to file an appeal to have it covered. Could be it's because I've had NA on that finger 4 times already - but who knows - I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth right now! I'll keep you all posted after the injections are scheduled.

Spoke too soon - not a WOOHOO
So...called BCBSNJ just to double check that I was OK and that what Acredo told me about them covering the Xiaflex was true. Lo and behold, I do have coverage for it, but my doctor had to call for a pre-auth for the "infusion". Called the doctor, and they hadn't even heard from Acredo! Doctor's office called Acredo, was told the Xiaflex was being sent. Now I have to wait until the doctor and BCBS authorize it all.
Why are these things always so hard to straighten out (no pun intended)? Good thing I called and found out about the auth - or I would have been paying $3500 for the Xiaflex
