Can I do anything to slow progression?

My Dupuytrens began about six months ago ( a couple of months after I'd had a broken radius). Its in the one hand only - I guess its a little atypical - I'm female. no family history not elderly (quite!). Seems to be effecting little and ring fingers only, though am wondering now about the middle. Seems to be happening quite quickly - I can feel a tight cord through the palm. Playing a banjo seems to aggravate it, but guess banjos can be aggravating! I haven't seen a specialist, just my GP once. It was diagnosed by my physio when I was getting my arm/hand working post cast (had mild CRPS). I can still hold my fingers flat to a table, but am lossing backward flexion. Is there any advantage in seeing a specialist sooner than latter? Is there anything I can do to slow it down? We dont have access to radiotherapy or NA in NZ.
Cheers!

Hi Australia Calling, I sounds as though you are a candidate for Radiotherapy. NA. is only suitable when you have contraction and even then not in all cases. Dr DeGroot of Waikato Hospital in Hamilton NZ. is listed on this site for Radiotherapy treatment.( Click on the left- Radiation therapy -'Clinics.') Regards.

to Pipi....absolutely!!! see a specialist as soon as possible. Don't wait until you fingers contract, especially if its affecting the middle joint (PIP joint) of your fingers...those are the hardest to correct later.
From my own experience, try to do radiation before fingers contract.
