CT Scans prior to XRT and area chosen for treatment
After all the feedback from others on this site, I've chosen to go forward with XRT treatment for my Dups. Can anyone share from experience how their doctor determined the exact treatment area. Did anyone have a CT scan during the initial assessment? Would this be common? As I'm going to have to pay out-of-pocket for all of this and I have to travel a distance, I'd like to avoid any surprises if at all possible. If they were to miss a nodule and then I had to return for treatment, I assume I'm looking at the same cost all over again and that just wouldn't be possible.
Cheers! Dane

Re: CT Scans prior to XRT and area chosen for treatment
I had an MRI, but the CT scan seems to be just as good and less expensive. If you type in MRI picture you should be able to go back to my post in 2/10 that shows the MRI picture of my hand and you can see the nodule. That showed Dr. Crimaldi exactly where to radiate and how deep to radiate. He also could see the cord going from my palm to my middle finger and knew to radiate that entire area. I had about a 1/2 inch radius around the cord that was treated. The postings back then also discuss Flojo's experience and other topics concerning CT scans. Dr. Crimaldi also palpatated my hand quite throughly to see if he could feel any hidden nodules before the MRI. Some of us have had MRI's but most have had x-rays or CT scans and all seem to accomplish the goal.
Regards,
Lori

Great! Thanks for the feedback Lori. This helps me plan for all of the expected costs. Consulting over the phone, they can't give many details.
Cheers!

Re: CT Scans prior to XRT and area chosen for treatment
I just posted about my recent RT which references the CT scan. It is under "RT again". That might help to somewhat explain what goes on.
