flu shots

Its flu shot time again except this year i'm not sure if i want to get one because of all the chemicals in it. And they have added the H1N1 to the seasonal. Someone tell me it won't do anything to my hands because of the chemicals. I know this all sounds crazy but i didn't do radiation to get my hands to go in remission and then take a flu shot and screw it all up. Take care

Re: flu shots

If only it was that easy. I have not had a flu shot in eight years and my DC has been extremely active for last two years. My quess it will do no harm, but i quess there lies that small possibility. Heres another thought as well, maybe not getting the flu shot and contracting the flu is more harm to DC than getting the shot. Im not an advocate for either side of the argument but until we know what causes this disease we remain in the dark with questions circling in our minds. If your in a higher risk group then getting the shot may outweigh the risks of DC. It may come down to, what is best for one is not best for the other kind of scenario.

Re: flu shots

I wouldn't think that a flu shot is related to Dupuytren's disease by any means. Having said that I don't take flu shots myself but I didn't have flu for a long, long time.

Re: flu shots

Just trying to be careful and i knew in my own mind it has nothing to do with DD but was just a little worried about all the chemicals in the shots now days such as mercury and formaldahyde. Pretty scary and i don't want my hands to go backwards instead of forward because i was so stupid to get a shot.

Re: flu shots

I have taken the flu shots many times and advocated for them; however, back in the early 70s there was a swine flu "outbreak" and inoculations were administered urgently. I received one and for about the next 20+ years I had a hard painful knot at the injection site (the tricept of my left arm, in fact, there is still a small hole there). Several years ago I heard about a conclusive followup to that program in which it was revealed that many people who received that shot had developed some kind of cancer. I will emphasize, there was conclusive evidence linking the cancer to the shot. Maybe I am lucky so far for all I have is the DC. By no means is that to say that DC is a result of that inoculation. This swine flu is way too reminiscent of that earlier swine flu shot because it was so rushed to deployment. I'm staying away from it this time!
