Getting on with splinting
Hi all,
Thought I would just say that I have been using a night splint solid for the last two weeks and I have noticed an improvement. I know there are many debates that it works or don't work, but I can for myself confirm an improvement. Normally I can slide a pen under my bent fingers, but now I can mostly lay my hands flat on the table. And does it feel good :)
What I do notice is that my fingers do want to curl back as the day progresses. So I shall keep up with my night splinting ( even during day if doing nothing, I pop it on )
I have also finished my phase two in Radiation, at the moment we can't tell if it has any affect yet. But the splint has. So hopefully with the combination of the two... we will just have to see as time goes by.
My nodules have remained the same, large and hard :(... I still have knuckle pads :( But I am not giving up on this yet. I shall fight this wretched disease for as long as it takes.

That is good to hear! I've been using my night splints for several weeks now. While it hasn't done anything to change my contractures it has helped a lot with the way I feel when I wake up. Previously, my hands and fingers were very swollen every morning, and it would take several hours to get full function of my hands.
I hope you continue to do well with your splints. I posted pictures of mine in a thread a few down from this one. It had 'splints' in the title. Check mine out. Are yours a similar type?
