I had my first round of XRT at Dr. Seegenschmiedt's medical center in Essen, Germany and the cost in 2007 was 400 Euros as I was not a German citizen, otherwise it would have been done for free. Second round was done in San Francisco at the University of California Medical Center as I could not find anywhere else in CA that would perform XRT for Dupuytren's as it was not consideredd a standard medical practice. The SF hospital charged my insurance company $8400 and me an additional $1700.

This is the way medical care is provided in a for profit unregulated environment where the end goal is to maximize profits for the industry. In this area the private enterprisers are remarkable successful in both gaming the system and in getting the government to pay for the research which they license and market to the public.
