Re: New here.

You asked, "Did you go to Prof S. for RT?"
"If this does not work for you what will be your next plan of action? "
"Will you be able to have RT again?"

No, I did not go to Prof. S.

My next plan of action will be surgery if the Dupuytren's progresses to that stage.

The Dr. said I could have RT again in the same area, but I won't.

Re: New here.

Thanks Callie,

May I ask a few more question?
I wonder where did have your RT and with what Doctor?
Were you in the early stages of DC when you had the RT?
When you had RT was the nodules/cords visible?
Did you have both hands done or one?
If both hands, was one hand worse than the other?

Thank you for being kind and answering the questions. Please forgive me as, I don't mean to sound like a drill sergeant.

Re: New here.

1) Portland, Dr. Cha at the Oregon Clinic:Radiation Oncology Department (ph. 1-503-215-6029). This location is at the Providence Hospital at 4805 N.E. Glisan St., Portland, OR 97213, just off I-84. www.providence.org/radiation

2) I had two nodules that formed about 13 years ago in my right hand. They went dormant for the last 12 years with no cord/contraction developing. Last year I had a new nodule develop at the base of my right little finger in the vicinity of the dormant nodules. A cord quickly developed and contraction of maybe 1-2 degrees by the time I had RT. At the same time a nodule developed in the web between forefinger and thumb which was included in the RT.

3) The cord/nodule were visible when I started RT in little finger.

4) I had RT in just right hand. I had surgery for almost identical symptoms, but 90 degrees contracture, in left hand (little finger) about 12 years ago. The surgery was a complete success with no sign of Dupuytren's now and zero contracture.

Re: New here.

Hi,

I hope it will be good! I don't know about the the MRI, I never had one. I would like to know how it goes for you and what they find. My DC started back in 2000 and I had the Needle APD done 2 times with in two years and it came back with in each year of it. This year I gave in and did the surgery.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: New here.RT starts

I had my first radiation therapy session today! This is the first time it has been done in Pittsburgh. I have been seeing a rapid growth of the DC in my left hand so te time is right for the RT. I will have 5 days of RT,take a six week break and do 5 more days.

A large mass. Dupuytren's nodules and cords? Pressing on nerves? Do you have a contracture? Your posts suggest you are inevitably leading to surgery without an understanding or discussion of the diagnosis or options for treatment. There are other reasons for lumps in the hand. You may have a combination of things going on, and this large mass does indeed need to come out. We know from other users on here that hand surgery often does lead to further DD nodules. So I would try and get a thorough understanding with your hand surgeon that explains all your symptoms, and answers to all questions that arise.
