Radiotherapy

Hi. I'm from the U.K. i have Dupuytren's disease in my right hand but it has not affected my fingers so far, i am thinking of having radiotherapy done to slow the growth and wonder if other people had had the treatment done in the U.K in the last few years, what their experience's were, where they had the treatment done and how much it had cost them. I do not have health insurance so would be paying for myself. any information would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

Hi

I am also from UK and have had RT but went to Germany. The two main private doctors in the UK are Doctor Shaffer and Glees as listed on the BDS site https://dupuytrens-society.org.uk/treatm...-organisations/. Dr Shaffer uses private hospitals/clinics around the country for the actual treatment but does the consultation in his own offices in Guildford or Nottingham. https://www.thedupuytrenspractice.com/ab...ichard-shaffer/You can expect to pay £2,000-£2,500 per hand/foot.

It is possible to get treated with RT on the NHS but the process is bureaucratic, difficult and often depends on funding and attitude in your local area. Stories about this are on the BDS FB group.

Best wishes SB
