Re: Red & hot after RT

I know my hand turned pink in the radiated area for a few days, like a mild sunburn. It went away after 3-4 days. I would recommend calling the RT office and asking them. I know during the first round of RT I had sharp pains and aching and I called and they said this reaction was normal. It was DD reacting to being attacked by the radiation.

Re: Red & hot after RT

Thank you, I rang St lukes and they advised me to see my doctor, I live two hours away from the hospital where I had it done.
Now waiting for gp to call me back because its impossible to see a doctor face to face. Its been over two weeks now after treatment.

Re: Red & hot after RT

Redness is one of the commonly mentioned side effects. I'm not so sure about the sensation of heat that you mention. Here's a list from cancer.gov:

http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/copin...d-you/page8#SE8

For me, it's 18 days after the 2nd round of RT, and I have some slight redness in the treated area, and some blistering and peeling of the skin at the creases between finger and palm. Blistering in the same locations was reported by Nigel in his story http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Radiati...Essen-Nigel.htm, so I'm not concerned about my blistering. I have no sensation of heat, though.

Edit: here's another cite that lists side effects including a burning sensation:

Re: Red & hot after RT

Thank you Johng, reassuring to read it is normal. I shall try to get in touch with Dr Shaffer just for peace of mind.
