slow recover from left hand extensive surgery

hi
had left hand surgery 14th last june. still in fisiotherapy 5 days a week and mesotherapy on the sutures once a week (very painful).
the hand palm (center) is recovering in some way, but the suture of the little finger is not well. the suture has hardened and is like a calous making the finger dificult to extend. doctors are talking of a future plastic surgery.
but so much pain and so long.
can anyone say something positive?!
thanks

Re: slow recover from left hand extensive surgery

Hi I've had numerous surgeries and have never need physiotherapy. I have basically done the exercising of the hand myself. May be you are doing too much. I found within 6 weeks of surgery I was able to make a close fist and extend the hand with no pain. You mention the word suture area is undergoing some other treatment. I would avoid this treatment. Maybe it is the formation of scar tissue you are commenting on. I would use a scar reducing Gel. A product is available if you are in the USA. In Europe a product called Narben (Scar) Gel or Scar Soft is an excellent product it contains Extracts from plants and silicone .It comes in 19 gram tube. You made need a small graft to prevent any scar problem .

jovaes,

What type of surgery did you have? Was it for Dupuytren's? How many fingers were involved? Was it performed by a hand surgeon?

Re: slow recover from left hand extensive surgery

hello guys:
on my left hand i had the palm cut in a kind of Y incision and the small finger also cut all the way to the palm. several stitches i dont remember how many, everywhere. the wounds were treated 3 times a week and the stitches removed after 2 weeks. more treatments until all the sutures close. then began the fisiotherapy, meaning diferent treatments, like warm immersion, some pads with some soft electric stimulation and strong massages among other stuff. after 3 months from the surgery began the mesotherapy once a week, which means a sucession of injections along the sutures to smooth them, like the treatments for estetic wrinkle solutions but with specific substances.
as i said the suture in the finger became rigid and doctors are thinking on an estetic surgery to solve the problem.
lots of pain and a life determined by the daily hospital visits, except weekends.
thanks for listening me.
