Still the same old me

DC w/ unidentified major tenon problems in both hands. Top of left hand always swollen. Painful and can't make a fist or hold small items. Long term Phenobarb use for seizure disorder. Guitars sit unused....

First an apology for so many names...I believe I'm on this site as Pamella and as Pam, due to the problems I have with login. So, I had to start a new id, but it's still the same old me. PamW.

My hands have gotten so much worse, right hand is really developing nodes now too. Can't close left hand. I've got something in my tendons I think, but nobody can figure out what's wrong. It seems to start with shoulder pain, I had frozen shoulder on my left side. Then the bumps started in my left palm, then the pain in my fingers and swelling on the top of my hand...until now where I can't close my left hand. The same pattern is being repeated on my right side. I went to the hand specialists and they don't know what's wrong.

Anyone have an idea that could help me. He said the DC does not have the pain and swelling associated with it.
Thank you and nice to see you all again,
Pam

Re: Still the same old me

Hi, I too have pain in hands, arms, shoulder. Have had DC for about 4 years, but no contracture as yet. I had radiation in Jan Feb of this year, not convinced it has helped, but of course I don't know how worse it would be.
My healthy sister has just been diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystophy, which is effecting her hand badly. I'm curious as she has mostly the same symptons as me. I have been told many times that DC is not painful, yet I have always had pain. I have had many tests for other conditions, but all negative.I am going to my GP in the morning to ask about RSD,after reading up I see that this can be misdiagnosed,as with DC I or my sister had never heard of RSD,I just wonder if any body out there have heard of any connection.
regards Susan

Re: Still the same old me

Australia Calling.RSD and Morbus Dupuytrens are two distinctive diseases , both have an immune response and both seem to have no cure. Morbus Dupuytrens/Ledderhose have many precursor signs and clinical symptons which help to diagnosed the disease. In Prof.Seegenschmiedts book he makes reference 'that any unclear findings should be confirmed by needle biopsy and pathohistologic examination'and .He also makes mention of Doppler ultrasound and magnetic resonance to assist in the findings. We must never self assess and you may find you know more about dups than your GP. Regards
