third update after surgery
Hello, Thanks for your comments after my second posting, Wolfgang it is normal bending of the joint. I am a little bit worried that you still have the tightness after all this time, I can only hope that it lessens in time. I have had 2 visits to the hospital this week, first to the Occupational Therapist, who remodelled my thermoplastic splint, pulling the finger (painfully!) straighter then moulding the softened splint around it. She also gave me a deep massage of the wound & also used a mini massager on it. She said to do the deep massage several times a day. I was also given a Cica-Care silicone gel sheet to put on the wound at night under the splint. Look this up on the web if you are unfamiliar with it. Finally I have been given a Rolyan Sof Stretch Extension splint, A picture of which is attached. This is to be worn during the day for short periods (15 minutes) to help straighten the finger. This hinges from the middle so I can flex my finger against the tension in the hinge. Later in the week I was seen by a Physiotherapist, who gave me 15 minutes of Ultra sound treatment, which I will be having twice a week for possibly 3 to 4 weeks. So as you can see a fairly comprehensive after care programme, lets hope it all works! Adrian.
