Hi just found this when googling my symptom I have had very sore ring finger for a few months very stiff to bend now I have 2 lumps on the palm of my hand one smaller than the other not painful but a burning feeling could this be dupuytren ? Scared as when lumps appeared I thought of cancer just prob being silly if anyone can answer this thanks in advance Jill
Hi it pays not to self Diagnose. Could be the initial stages of Dupuytrens. I experienced a so calling funny itchy feeling within the hand. Very unlikely to have any cancer within the hand.

Hi Missy
I agree with newman, best to see a doctor first, there can be a few reasons for lumps in the palm, cysts including ganglions, hard skin, benign growths, thickening of tendons or other tissue, inflammation of joints, and of course Dupuytren's. Come back and let us know.

Hi Jill,
I think many of us immediately think cancer when we feel a tumor (or cyst). Even if we don't really think it's cancer, the thought pops in our minds. Don't think you're being silly...it's completely normal. :)
I agree with the others. Have a hand specialist take a look at it. If it is Dup, then come back here for research. You'll find that many doctors are not up-to-date on possible treatments for early Dup and might suggest you wait until your finger begins to contract. There is a WEALTH of info on this site about the disease and some loyal forum folks who are very helpful with providing their experiences/opinions/info gained through research.
Thanks everyone don't know if you can see the lump on my picture it's not very clear but I'm making appt with doc for next available I will let you all no just so glad you don't think it's cancer I'm so relieved didn't really think it was but still when you discover lump it's only natural to assume the worst thanks for putting my mind at rest x Jill

Hi Jill,
It is difficult to say for sure because of the blurry picture. It does appear (from what I can tell) that your lumps are in about the same place as mine. Do they appear to line up with your ring finger (or your ring finger and either your pinky or middle finger)? In simplest terms, the Dup nodules run along the tendons that go up the fingers so they would be lined up.
Hi Missy, Just a little FYI, not sure what doctor you are going to, but hoped you picked an orthopedic hand surgeon or someone in that realm of things. They tend to be very good at diagnosing DD. Ignorant about early treatment, or RT, but great at diagnosing the disease. My regular doctor never heard of the disease before. Glad I did not rely on them.
