Re: New here.

wasabi,

I did have a hard time finding a position that was comfortable. I used to clinch my fist or curl my hand at night and that really made it hurt. I started wearing a bicycling glove to bed and that not only helped my hand to stop curling my fingers, but it also helped take the presssure off of my hand since I was sleeping with it under the pillow. I looked odd, but it worked. I also now sleep mostly on my back.

Re: New here.

Like the bicycle glove idea Lori. Wish I had not gotten rid of mine a couple of years ago! Hey, maybe just wearing them will make me dream of being more athletic again one day! I bet they would be great for driving also. Unless too bulky?

Re: New here.

Oh, I like your idea of the bicycle glove. I currently wear a wrist splint which was prescribed during my "I don't know what is causing your pain, but you do have tendinitis so I will treat that" stage. It does an OK job of keeping the hand straight, but it doesn't really help keep the fingers from curling (which seems to aggravate the pain). I too have a LOT of pain. It started a few years back, and appeared to be an RSI, with tendinitis and tenosynovitis. The constant pain caused me to also develop fibromyalgia (and suspected CRPS). Despite regular treatment, the pain persisted and the tendinitis/tenosynovitis would not heal. Once I finally started developing the nodules which led to the Dupuytren's diagnosis, my ortho finally understand the reason for my inability to heal the tendinitis/tenosynovitis--it was constantly being aggravated by the Dupuytren's tightening!! He still cannot say for sure whether the Dupuytren's caused the tendinitis/tenosynovitis or just aggravated it, but at least he can see a correlation to my pain (constant ache in the hands/wrists/fingers).

Re: New here.

Valerie, yes on the Vit. D. Doctor had me increase to 2,000 I.U's a day. After 6 months my number is now in a healthy range. Did not measure B12, but he also had me increase my B12 to 500 to 1,000 mgs. Can't hurt. Definitely is calming.

My doctor just told me last week that my bloodwork showed a vitamin D deficiency. I cut milk from my diet 2 months ago, so last week I started taking a D supplement.

I have been using a B12 eyedropper under my tongue for a few months since I lowered my meat intake.

I prefer to supplement only the vitamins I am missing from my regular diet because I've read bad things about cheap multi- vitamins.

Vitamin D deficiency is the new thing. It seems everyone has it now. I can't figure out if it's just something new they've decided to test for or what. Several of my doctors had said that part of it is due to sunscreen. It's actually good if we can sit in the sun 10-15 minutes a day with no sunscreen on. Let your body be able to soak some direct rays.

Re: New here.

nanhands,

I also wear them for driving. the padding helps. I also tend to clinch or grip the steering wheel rather tightly when it rains or traffic gets heavy. the glove tends to help when I rest my hand on the steering wheel. It sort of protects the nodule and cord.
