Surgery 6 days ago

My name is Tom. I'm 52. I had surgery on my right hand 6 days ago. The extent of contraction in my pinkie was basically complete and the ring finger was not terrible yet, but steadily worsening. I just briefly removed the bandages and splint. Already I feel like I (if I had to) could sort of resume normal activities. I mean it felt pretty normal.

I'm going to take 3 months off work and be cautious during the recovery, but I'm really optimistic about the results.

Re: Surgery 6 days ago

Hi Tom

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing your experience. Success with this surgery seems to depend on the experience of the surgeon, your own dedication to doing the prescribed exercises, keeping the scar moist and supple, and your own natural recovery. But be patient. Any problems along the way, there are people on here who have been there and can offer advice.

Best wishes
SB

Tom, that is a really good result so far. Much better than most for open surgery. Did your surgeon have a lot of experience with DD surgery?

Best wishes for continued progress.
