UK oncologists for RT

Hello all

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the reputation of the following oncologists who offer radiotherapy as a treatment for Dupuytren's?

Don't get us wrong - I'm sure that they are all very professional - I have certainly been impressed and humbled by the communication I've received from the emails I've sent.

But my GP is asking me which one I'd prefer to go to - obviously I'd like to go to the one with the most experience in consultations and assessment, as I'm not even sure I want to go down the RT route - as a first step, I'm trying the massage therapy advocated by meineur and aryan amongst others.

But I do want to get checked out and at least investigate RT options...

The secretaries of the kind doctors and oncologists I have been in touch with are:

- Dr Andrew Goodman of Royal Devon and Exeter
- Mr Morris at Guy's Hospital in London
- Dr Loo and Sharon Pearse at Colchester General Hospital
- Professor Murray Brunt at Keele University Hospital

I have also been in touch with Christie Hospital in Manchester, but am not aware of who the doctor/specialist/oncologist is.

Many thanks if you can help - feel free to private message me of course.

(Apologies to Spanishbuddha who's already helped me on this front!)

Jim

Re: UK oncologists for RT

Hi Jim,

Sadly I have had no personal experience of any of the Oncologists listed ... apart - as have you - from their PA's.

What I can say however - now having had three sessions - is that the progress for me (I obviously can't speak for anyone else) with Stephen's massage therapy for DD has been fantastic. My right hand is better than before I even SUSPECTED I had DD ... and the very small nodule on my left hand has not altered one iota and the puckered skin that had slightly tightened around it has now relaxed and regained its previous buoyancy. It's almost miraculous. Most importantly, I have lost my DD anxiety - which is - in and of itself - a godsend. Based on this I can - for the moment at least - but recommend Stephen's service. I think you are right to try this avenue before the huge expense of the RT (if not on the NHS) and - above all - having the radiation put into your body.
