Radiation therapy
I am creating this new thread to get away from those spams.
Please use this thread for posting and let's make the "radiotherapy" a read-only thread. I myself will refrain to the forum on www.dupuytren-online.info. Sooner or later the criminals will kill this thread, too, and I am sick of spam ...

radiotherapy gone
I just realized that BioS not only deleted the spam but the complete affected threads. Unfortunately the full radiotherapy thread is now lost. Too bad. I don't know whether it makes any sense to re-post some of the old messages (I have a not too old backup). The new posts would have the current date, and that might look like fake, though it won't be one.
I also won't re-create a "radiotherapy" thread because that name is probably on the list of those spammers. For the time being I suggest that you go to the forum of www.dupuytren-online.info to post with regard to radiotherapy.

from acupunture to radiotherapy
After over 60 acupuncture treatments,I have decided to go for radiotherapy on my left hand.I was diagnosed april 05(left hand-little finger).Initially the acupunture worked well, but the dups came back,so I contacted Prof Seegenschmidt in Essen-who diagnosed Dups in both hands and Lederhosen in both feet.My first week`s treatment on my left hand is scheduled Dec 18th.A big thanks to Wolfgang and all on this forum who have made me aware of a treatment that is genuinely effective!!This is not available in the UK.As a professional musician I need to escape the detrimental effects of surgery!!My acupuncturist fully supports my new treatment strategy. Radiation Therapy
Hi Phil - hope your treatment goes well. I'm back in January 2007 for my first annual checkup.
Frederick - I agree with everything Wolfgang posted to your comments.
I went to Essen October 2005 and January 2006, staying 5 days both times. The treatment took 3 minutes each day and cost 402 euros. My checkup in March 2006 cost 55 euros. As I said, everything seems to have gone well but I am waiting until after my January 2007 appointment with Prof Seegenschmidt before saying too much.
The treatment is totally painless, the German people were lovely, and there are plenty of nice things to see in Essen and the vacinity.

radiotherapy
Thanks Nigel- I found the care and hospitality in the Essen Clinic to be first class. What is more Prof Seegenscmidt gave me a precise indication of how far the Dups and Lederhosen had progressed including photocopies of my hands with the dups Marked in Black ink. This sort of feedback was not given to me at my local Oxford Clinic-their approach was surgery now or go away.I had no appraisal of where I was with the diseae.Luckily,I researched enough to realise surgery was not a viable option for a musician.Thnks for your information on the treatment and best of luck with the outcome. radiotherapy in the US
Issleib has posted how she found someone in her vicinity. I think what she describes is the most efficient way until we have a list of US radiotherapists (with reasonable charges). Issleib's post is in the forum on www.dupuytren-online.info. Select the Dupuytren board and then the thread "radiotherapy".

Bill
I have finally recieved my "explaination of benifits" from Blue Cross. Final bill for both hands was 13,000-Crazy. However Blue Cross always negotiates deep discounts for it's members and it paid the rest with out a question. I have paid just about 100 out of pocket.

Radiation therapy in Canada
Hello All,
My family doctor recently diagnosed me with DC and referred me to "one of the best" plastic surgeons in the city.
I started my DC research and the more I learned, the more I thought that hand surgery seemed inappropriate and fraught with risk.
NA seemed a viable solution until I read that Dr. B at SHSC will only do you if you have 30° of contraction (according to your forum). And he has a 6 - 8 month waiting list.
I am early stages (I think) - one nodule in my palm and my middle finger at about 10°.
Then I came across radiation therapy on the German site http://www.dupuytren-online.info. It suggested that radiation for early DC was a good treatment. It mentions a couple of clinics in Montreal that do radiation therapy but that is long way from home. I have called one of them today and am waiting for a response.
Does anyone know if radiation therapy is available in Ontario, in the Toronto area or East GTA.
Thank you.
Paul in Cobourg
