Re: Collegenase/Xiaflex in Australia & a comment on NA
HI All:
If Xiaflex ever is approved in Australia I'll take igruther's comments very much on board. As others have mentioned, the surgical result can be very so-so.
From the experience of other countries, I understand that the Xiaflex treatment will be on the same order of cost as normal surgery, presumably for simple market reasons. I'd be willing to give it a go, if only because it promises a treatment that does not put my hand in a damn cast for a month.

Thanks for that link and comment Wayne.
Have you tried any other therapy before, such as surgery, that you can compare the injections to?

Re: Collegenase/Xiaflex in Australia & a comment on NA
I've tried acupuncture and reflexology. Both were very painful and only provided a reduction in pain for about a week.
I had my third injection of Collegenase/Xiaflex two months ago. The first two weren't very successful and I started to loose confidence in the procedure. However, the last one has given me fantastic results. It's been two months now and the nodules on both feet have softened and substantially reduced in size. It is now difficult to feel where they were. I can now walk properly again without pain. Last week I had an injection to my right hand however it's still too early to see any results. This treatment is not a cure and will need to be repeated every 6 to 12 months or so.

Re: Collegenase/Xiaflex in Australia & a comment on NA
Wayne: I just had my second Collegenase injection to my right foot and hand yesterday in Brisbane. I'm being treated by Dr David Chin. Check out website below

Hope this helps

Australia Calling. Hi Wayne maybe you could contact Dr Chin and gain his thoughts about being listed on this site for NA. If agreeable Wolfgang Wach the moderator can make contact. He would only need his email and the OK. It would be great and also it would advertise his expertise at no cost to the wider world. The drop down box above "Dupuytren Society" shows the contacts.

Re: Collegenase/Xiaflex in Australia & a comment on NA
I have a follow up appointment with Dr Chin early September and can ask him personally when I see him. I have mentioned this site to him and he seemed interested. I'm sure if the moderator emailed him for permission he would only be too happy to approve. Cheers Wayne
