Anyone know if Xiaflex will shrink PIP nodules?

I have a fair size pinky nodule in the PIP joint. I've had successful NA with Dr. Pess (Eatontown, NJ) and am going back for another treatment, as the damn cords seem to be re-growing and limiting my lateral pinky movement (stretching my pinky away from my ring finger). As a classical pianist, it's an important movement!

The nodule seems to be restricting the flattening of the pinky at the PIP joint and I was hoping that Xiaflex injection(s) would shrink (dissolve!?) the nodule. I'll ask Dr. Pess when I go for my treatment but was wondering if anyone knows more about this.

Re: Anyone know if Xiaflex will shrink PIP nodules?

I participated in the phase III study for xiaflex and it works great. It should be available in 2010. Just make sure to find a doctor with experience in injecting. (preferably one of the doctors who participated in the original trial) It does require some skill to inject properly to avoid tendon rupture.

My lesions have not returned, which is typical for this treatment. :-)

Thanks for the encouraging words! Just wondering - did you have a nodule in a PIP joint? If so, did the xiaflex actually shrink it?
