Hello - New here

Hello,

I'm new here, so my apologies if I missed anything similar that was posted before. In the past, I've had carpal tunnel releases on both hands, and trigger finger release in the middle finger on my right hand. Those surgeries were all very successful.

However, I think I might have Dupuytren's Contracture below the pinky on my left hand now. There is a 'dimple' in the line/crease on my hand below the pinky finger, and I've been experiencing painful popping sensations in the palm when I bend the fingers. I've tried splinting, but it doesn't seem to help. When I type or use the trackball, the top of my left hand becomes painful in the knuckle area below the pinky, as does the palm (somewhat).

I'm 36, have both Type I Diabetes and Hypothyroidism, and have read that those who have such conditions are more prone to developing Dupuytren's Contracture, trigger finger and carpal tunnel. I'm going to the hand surgeon later this morning to see what he thinks and what can be done.

Has anyone experienced mild "dimpling" on the hand? If this is DC, perhaps it's the early stages? Thank you for any info. or thoughts you could provide.

Re: Hello - New here

I started showing dimpling as a young girl on my fingers and big toe, to this day contracture has not happenend in those digits. DC formed contracture in my pip with a large nodule in my late 20's. Get more than one opinion before you make a decision to go under the knife... J Ann
