Massaging of scar
Can anyone tell me how for long I should massage the scar after surgery?
I had surgery 3 months ago and wonder should I still carry on (fairly) regular massage ? I presume there is a time when massaging will have no further effect.
Thanks
John

Re: Massaging of scar
What is the condition of your scar? I stopped messaging at about three months. At that time my scar was hardly noticeable. It really depends on the condition of the scar. Now 11 years later it is about impossible to tell that I had surgery ... zero contraction and no visable scar except if a person really looked closely.

Re: Massaging of scar
It is L shaped ... part is very good another part still raised and whiteish !
I was wondering if continued massage ( I have a small hand-held massage machine) will have further help with recovery.
Thanks

Re: Massaging of scar
Are you using a hand lotion to keep the scar moist. That is really important, in my opinion, to keep friction and abrasion at lowest level. I used Aveeno lotion during the entire healing process and the outcome couldn't have been better.
